Monday was a pretty relaxed day; our only outing was to Builder’s Warehouse to look at their plants. Afterwards we popped into Bread Basket for some food. We also popped into BT Games to check out their Infinity Characters (to spend my pocket money on) as well as Khoki to check out their art stuff.

Tuesday was New Year’s Eve. To usher in the New Year Mom and I decided to have our hair cut. Mommy went to Granny’s hairstylist for a new look. I went to Daddy’s hair stylist, Brian at Swept, to have a ‘spiky cut’. After a good hair cut Dad and I went to Fego’s for lunch. It’s so cool being ‘just the boys’ sometimes. In the afternoon we had our last swim of the year. I didn’t last long on New Year’s Eve, so Mom and Dad ushered in the New Year on my behalf.

Wednesday we woke up to 2014! It was an awesome feeling – my sixth year that I’ve lived in! To celebrate the New Year we met up with Shelli, Joseph, Naomi and Noa at the Field and Study Centre. We spent the entire day there having a picnic and playing and chatting. It was an awesome day and a brilliant start to the New Year.

Thursday we chilled around the house trying to keep cool as the heat at the moment is pretty intense!

On Friday morning we all went to the Garden Shoppe to buy some plants for the garden, but not before we all had breakfast and then visited the bunnies. I wasn’t too keen to look at plants so Dad and I went to the play area while Mom and Granny shopped. Back home we all got extremely industrious. Granny and Mom planted plants downstairs while Dad and I worked on the balcony. Our job was to get plant pots downstairs. Dad decided it would be the most fun to lower them down the balcony to the garden with some rope. It worked terrifically well, despite my letting the rope go occasionally and Daddy having to go downstairs to retrieve it. We also emptied a massive pot; we lowered the soil down to the garden via a bucket. Plan C was the most successful to get the sand to empty out the bucket without going down to the garden. It was a lot of fun. Last, Dad carried the final huge pot downstairs – it was too heavy to let down ‘by crane’.

Then in the late afternoon Dad and I skimmed the garden to make it level so that the water would flow through easily. The best part was when Dad would turn on the hose pipe to emulate rain to ‘test the lie of the land’! In the evening I passed out in the family room on my own!

Saturday we all went shopping as we’d invited Shelli, Joseph, Naomi and Noa to a braai the next day. It was great fun and afterward Dad took me to Toys-R-Us to spend my pocket money which I’d been saving for a while. I bought two Infinity characters – Woody from Toy Story and Venelope from Wreck-It Ralph (my latest most favourite movie that Mom and Dad downloaded for me from the iTunes store). I spent the rest of the afternoon playing with my new characters – it was a perfect plan, as it was way too hot to be outdoors. I think we’re having a heat wave!

Sunday morning we popped into Benmore Gardens for some errands and then at lunchtime our guests arrived for our braai. It was such fun! I’d bought Naomi a gift that she immediately ripped open. I then commandeered Daddy to assemble it. Afterward Naomi and I played and played with her new toy. Joseph and Dad took turns at the braai being the ‘tong master’ while Mom and Shelli chatted. Naomi and I, not to be outdone, decided we needed to cook too, so we made our own ‘meal’ at the basin, standing on our little stepladders. What a lot of fun we had!

The rest of the afternoon was spent chatting, eating and playing. It was a wonderful afternoon and a perfect way to usher in the first week of the new year.

Well, that’s it for now. Happy New Year everyone!

Love
