Hi all,

Not only did spring arrive officially this week on Spring Day (Wednesday), in its full glamour of blossoms and fragrances, but so too was it revealed that my blog has made it to the top ten in the SA Blog Awards 2010. It so awesome to get such great recognition after 180 plus postings! Monday morning Dad eagerly waited for the announcement of my nomination, to the point that it made him late for work! But it wasn’t in vain as we discovered my blog had made it. Mom, Dad and I were thrilled. Dad was so proud of me – he was beaming!

Now, dear readers, I need you to vote for my blog, by clicking on the badge alongside, or clicking here. After all the excitement of Monday morning, and we finally managed to ship Dad off to work, things settled down at home. First on the agenda was physio with Di, where after we visited Granny. I hadn’t seen her for more than a week as she has been on holiday. While visiting with Granny I also got to play with my cousins Tammy and Ryan. Because Granny missed me so much she got me super cool Buzz Lightyear and Woody action figures. Back home I immediately got down to playing with them. Later in the afternoon, once Dad was home, we spent some good quality time in the garden blowing soap bubbles.

Tuesday OT with Lauren proved awesome, as I have been ‘discharged’, which means I’ve made enough progress not to need OT for a while anymore! I will be sad not to see Lauren all that often, but I will ask Mom to take me back from time to time for an assessment, and more importantly, to visit Lauren. I also had a midday appointment with Dr Nicoletta to address my sinus congestion. The appointment ran a little late, but was pretty quick, Mom leaving armed with an antibiotics prescription for me.

In the afternoon Granny and Tammy arrived to look after me while Mom did her BabyGym class with her Mommies. After Dad arrived home and Mom’s BabyGym class was over, we all decided a Spur dinner was in order. Sadly I fell asleep en route, so when I woke up Mom and Dad had already finished their meals. My very special Mommy had already ordered for me a kiddies meal which was already waiting for me; I tucked into it the minute I was fully awake.

On Wednesday morning Mom took me to teacher Liesel for music. It was an awesome class and I bopped along nicely, despite being kicked really hard by Samuel in my knee. A howl ensued but pretty soon all was back to normal. The rest of Wednesday was spent at home, with Mom making a take-away dinner for later in the evening. We were going to the drive-in with Bev and Claire to watch ‘Knight and Day’. After a yummy meal out of the back of the estate we settled down for the movie. It seemed like an awesome movie but I just couldn’t stay awake. Mom and Dad did confirm the next day that it was indeed an entertaining movie.

We stayed home for practically the whole day on Thursday. Mom and I headed into the back garden in the afternoon to fill the water features and attend to the pool. We decided the garden looked really dry, as the days were already very hot. Mom turned on the water to water the garden and I got very busy helping to water. Pretty soon I was making mud pies and getting filthy from head to toe. I loved it; this is what summer is all about.

On Thursday evening Opa came for dinner and my bunzy run. Dad braai-ed a large espetada for us all and we chatted over dinner. Later I had my bath with Opa looking on. Eventually I had to retire to bed and Opa had to go home.

Friday morning Mom and I stayed home. I painted on the patio under the stunning spring sun. All around me the birds were singing in the trees and I could smell the fragrances of star jasmine and yesterday-today-tomorrow’s wafting across the garden. In the afternoon we visited Nina who was hosting a clothes display for a designer. Not really my thing, but I decided to tag along to keep Mom company. Dad was already home when Mom and I arrived home, and as it was late a quick dinner and bath followed.

Mommy had another BabyGym class on Saturday morning; once all the Mommies had arrived, Dad, Gene (who’d come with her Mom Nina and little Kate) and I decided to stake out Crazy Kids Farmyard. It was not our best outing too date, as the farmyard was somewhat wanton in animals. This was quickly forgotten when the jumping castle was inflated and Gene and I jumped to our heart’s content. Afterward, Gene and I shared some popcorn on a bench under a tree.

Back home it was time for my snooze, and upon waking in the afternoon from my snooze, Nina had returned with Gene and Kate, whom we were baby-sitting for the afternoon. Shortly after dropping Gene and Kate off, Mom, Dad and I were travelling to the Sandton Gautrain station. We travelled there in two cars, because we were collecting Shazza from the airport. From there we hoped onto the Gautrain to OR Tambo. After a short wait Shazza arrived. I felt so sorry for her, as she looked really tired, having travelled 15 hours from Melbourne, and she was 7 months pregnant. Her tiredness faded as we all hugged and kissed, and within minutes it felt like we’d seen each other every day.

A quick 12 minute trip by Gautrain from OR Tambo back to Sandton followed. Mom and Shazza left the station in one car, while Dad, Gene, little Kate and I headed home in the other car. Dad did look somewhat panicky being left in charge of 3 kids, but he handled it beautifully. We hadn’t been home long when Nina arrived to collect Gene and Kate. It was very late by the time I had had dinner and had bathed.

Sunday morning Dad and I spent some quality time in the garden, and I swung on my swing for a long while. After my midday snooze, Dad bundled me into my jogger, put a harness on Roxy and we walked to the Post Office to collect our mail. It was stunning walking in the hot afternoon, and we noticed Roxy was getting quite tired. Walking home we discovered a water pipe being repaired surrounded by a water puddle. Dad led Roxy to the puddle and she practically dove into the water as she lapped it up.

Well, that’s it for this week. Hope you all have an awesome week ahead of you.

‘Til next week!

Love,

Jarrod
