Hi all,

After publishing & finishing my blog last Sunday night, I went to sleep in my big bed for the whole night, although it should be noted that I partied till about 9 o’clock before putting myself to bed. I only woke at 3 and told Mom to get into my bed. I then woke at a reasonable hour and had breakfast, and did some music. Two new words arrived on the scene from my music on Monday, xylophone and saxophone: saxophone because I listen frequently to the song ‘I am the music man’ and xylophone because I love this instrument in my music box. By 10 o’clock, I had fallen asleep again, sparking Mom’s attention that I was definitely feeling offish. This was very soon after hearing that little Liya my new little friend had been born. Nina is of the opinion I was exhausted as I now have so many girlfriends to choose from and decided to retire to rethink my position. My waking disposition however made Mom get on the phone via SMS to Dr Nicoletta and they agreed on a course of antibiotics. I don’t strictly need them, but as this sinus infection is hanging around and there is a surgery looming, we agreed I need to put my best foot forward for the surgery and so the icky white serum is on the cards, twice a day.

Eventually when I did make an appearance, and Mom and I headed off to the pharmacy over the road from Granny, so we had to make a stop as I insisted on seeing Nana and ‘Hammy’; Ryan also arrived home from school and I was so excited to see him, I ran and gave him a big hug. I really tried to make it into his room to get to his guitar, but the strings needed replacing so I couldn’t jam with him.

We made it home after playing with the kitties and generally causing havoc in the house, up and down the corridors and stairs. My cousins are quite cool even though they are so much older than me. Ryan even gave me some of his coke.

On the drive home, I decided to see how tenacious my mother was and announced that the “Nunu must get in dere (the front seat) and rive”, “When we get home you can drive”, said the mother. “No! Now Nunu get in dere and rive”, “When we get home you can drive”. We bantered like this from Morningside to Robindale, eventually I was crying and Mom was exhausted. I don’t know who won this game.

Tuesday was a very unsuccessful school day and I clung to my Mom and my bunny while I tried to participate in a few activities. We left a couple of hours later, and headed home, I was asleep less than a kilometre later. In the afternoon we did some learning activities and water play, until it rained that is. When it was dry again Mommy noticed me moving tables and chairs around all the way from the kitchen. She surmised that I was constructing something, and indeed I was, a tower of steps to the top of my house, and once there, ‘To infinity and beyond’. Well Mom is considering getting me a helmet to wear.

Wednesday was cold and wet initially and I didn’t feel up to anything so Mom let me just relax doing my own thing through the day, hoping it would help me feel better soon, but the antibiotics should start working for a day or so. We spent the day quietly doing things around the house, including filling the fountains, and tending to the garden and pool. I found out that my chillies which I planted have grown big and strong – some of them were firey red and looked dangerous. I can’t eat those Mom says but she says I can try my hand at something bigger now. I am quite excited as I love to garden.

Thursday I went to music, but still was having headaches etc. and Mom was starting to get quite worried. Still I enjoyed my class, and I told Mommy I was the music man. I said Glockenspiel, and I was quite the charmer, seeing teacher Liesel and giving her a hug. I did however choose to end my class early by taking my bunny and lying in Mom’s lap while the rest sang goodbye, I gave the odd cursory wave. I recovered to go and get my beetle, on my tummy, stamp which was quite important to me.

Later after my snooze and lunch, we headed off for some errands and stopped in to give Michelle some dinner for it was their first night home with little Liya. When we stopped at Woolies for food, Mom let me carry the basket and when she asked if I wanted strawberries as I had asked the day before for them, I replied, ‘put it in der Mom’, pointing to the basket. Then Mom said ‘Oh Jarrod’ and I retorted ‘Oh Mommy’.

We also stopped at the Haa Hoo park on the way home to play and it was a good successful play, although parts of it was undergoing maintenance. All in all a really good day I would say. In the afternoon, when we arrived home, Daddy was already home. He had been on a conference for the past four days, where he even was a speaker. Although I was very proud of him I also felt sad that he was on a conference as the entire week he had to leave really early and he arrived home later than usual. However, this afternoon he was home early, and he had bought me a present. I was driving in the front seat of the car, again, playing Barney Boogies to the neighbours. Dad came over to me in the garage where I was sitting behind the wheel of the car and he whispered “Daddy got Nunu a present – it’s in your bedroom”. That was it – enough driving and a ran indoors to my room. There, in my bed, was a brand new big In The Night Garden book that Daddy had bought during his conference’ lunch hour for me. I was thrilled. For the next couple of days I would say “Daddy bought it for me” when I was reading this book.

On Friday we took Nana shopping for bathroom accessories as Aunty Kim wants to renovate her bathroom. It wasn’t a too successful trip for Nana, but I did get to spend the day with her, and we all lunched together at the Wimpy. Daddy got a new Blackberry during the afternoon, a Torch, so we didn’t see him for another couple of hours while he played with his new toy.

Saturday morning I accompanied Daddy on some errands that he had. We had such fun together – after doing the boring stuff like going to the post office and pharmacy, Daddy got some fish and chips and we sat on a park bench together at Emmarentia Dam watching the ducks while we ate our lunch and chatted. It was such a simple little outing and completely unplanned, but Dad and I really enjoyed it. In the afternoon, after my snooze, Mom and I relaxed around the house – Daddy had gone out for the afternoon to meet some friends at a mini-Tweetup. He arrived late afternoon, and one of the people Daddy meet, Stacey, got me a stunning little aeroplane. I spent the evening running up and down the passage flying my plane. Her timing was perfect, as one of my current favourite things is aeroplanes, and I often chat about the time a few weeks back where Mommy, Daddy, Nana and I flew to Cape Town. I also love looking to the sky whenever I hear a plane overhead.

DIY was on the cards on Sunday morning. After visiting Builder’s Express for some hardware, Mom, Dad and I went to one of our flats did some touch-ups. Back home I promptly went for my midday snooze. In the afternoon Dad and I headed off to Europa at First Place for some afternoon tea and cake with Bev and Claire – it’s been ages since I saw them last. They got me a Biggi Bubble Gun, ready with batteries, so I spent the afternoon in the play area blowing bubbles for everyone’s entertainment. It was a lovely afternoon – I played on the jungle gym, blew soap bubbles, carried tins of beans around the restaurant that were on display, and had stacks of giggles. It was the perfect end to the weekend.

Until next week.

Love,

Jay-Bee
