Monday morning I had a brilliant physio session with Di. Despite not wanting to go, I really enjoyed myself, and I felt quite proud of my achievements. Afterward Mom and I headed off to Sandton City to shop for a toy for me from my birthday gift voucher from Mark, Lilse and baby Luke. I discovered a most stunning Tow Mater Garage from Cars 2 and immediately fell in love with it. Wielding my new toy I wandered past the Build-A-Bear Workshop, and said to Mom, “What’s that?” Mom explained to me that I could make a teddy bear there – I immediately needed to do that!

I chose a cream white bear and got to the business of filling it with fluff. I also added a little heart; but first I rubbed it on my forehead, so that I will always think about him, and then on my heart so that I will always love him. I named my bear Bobby. I also chose a sound for him – a barking dog. After all the fillings were done, I helped ‘bath’ him under a blow dryer. Next I needed some clothes for him, so I chose some soccer gear, and for something to ride in I chose a pram, in pink. At home, Bobby and I played with my Tow Mater Garage for the rest of the afternoon – Mom didn’t hear a peep out of us!

Late in the afternoon Mom and I heard a huge commotion in the garden – we rushed out to find 8 green woodhoopoes bouncing around in our oak tree making quite a racket. There seemed to be something in the tree that attracted them. I now was into bird watching, so in the front garden I watched a masked weaver weave a nest. It looked so amazing.

My music lesson on Tuesday morning was excellent! I played hard and got my usual Be Sharp Beetles stamp on my tummy, ready to show Daddy in the evening. Claire came for a visit and after spending some time visiting with her I had an extra-long snooze.

Mom and I went shopping on Wednesday morning. I stormed around the centre, up and down the ramps. I got ice cream and had a generally good time. At the pharmacy the pharmacist found me looking at the cereals. She asked me which one I liked so I showed her the Barney cereal. Next the pharmacist asked me what I ate my cereal with, she was thinking I would say Milk. My answer: “With a spoon!” It troubled me that a pharmacist didn’t know that. Later during the shopping expedition I fell asleep in the shopping trolley.

Dad had heaps of documents to get through for work so he stayed and worked at home on Thursday. I know he is ‘out of bounds’ to me when he’s working from home, but it’s still nice to see him in the study and to give him the occasional hug and kiss. I really miss him when he’s at work. Marc, Sharon and little Matthew were scheduled to arrive on Sunday, so Mom and I cleaned the car for them. Since Dad was home, and his bike was in the driveway, I also washed that for him. He was completely thrilled!

With the weather really hot at the moment I spent the rest of the day playing outside. At mid-afternoon Mom and I headed off to speech therapy, leaving Dad nose down at his desk. By the time we came home Dad had finished working and we all went for a swim.

During the evening we were chatting about holidays and destinations all over the world. I decided I wanted to go to Las Vegas.

Friday morning I spent a good deal of time ‘cooking’ making a signature dish out of salt and cardamom seed. We then went for a play date with Hannah and her mom Jenny, as they were back from the USA after a six week trip home. We met up at iPlay and we all played up a storm!

Dad and I spent a good deal of time playing on Saturday morning. He then had to head off to Midrand to our storage bin to collect my baby car seat for little Matthew. When he got home we had a team snooze. In the afternoon Barrett, Jackie and little Kewyn came round for a braai. Dad set up the gas braai on the front patio, and after we all played on the front lawn, Dad got down to the business of braai’ing some meat. Fortunately Barrett was there to help, as Daddy is not a great braai’er. While braai’ing Daddy and Barrett did have a good giggle watching YouTube videos about braai’ing! If you’re interested, go look at the Rebecca Black Friday parody called Braai Day (as 24 September has been dubbed Braai Day, over and above Heritage Day), and another classic simply called The Braai!

When I woke up on Sunday morning Dad had already left for the airport to collect Marc, Sharon and Matthew. At first I got a bit of fright not seeing him in bed, and then I remembered his early run to OR Tambo. A short while after I was up Dad arrived back. It was so good meeting old friends again, and meeting Matthew for the first time. We didn’t keep them long, as they had been travelling for almost a whole day from Down Under. Just before they left we promised to meet up during the week and made plans.

A little later Mom, Dad and I arrived at Norscot Manor to have breakfast with Mark, Lisle and little Luke. I spent a great morning there. Mark and I played soccer – well Mark played soccer and I giggled and giggled. He was so funny that my game was off form. I then took a ride in a motorised go-cart. I loved it. Everyone else stressed quite a bit with my going pedal-to-the-metal and not having the concept of steering down pat. Fortunately a ‘runner’ was on hand to reach in and help me steer and keep out of the flower beds and on the track. Don’t tell Mom and Dad, but I’m putting one of those go-carts on my Christmas wish list!

Around midday we bid Mark, Lisle and Luke farewell, and we hadn’t travelled ten minutes and I was fast asleep. A team snooze ensued. In the afternoon we all played in the garden and enjoyed the beautiful summer’s afternoon.

My big success for this week has been that I’m now saying nine word sentences and I count to ten!

Til next week.

Love,

Jarrod
