As this week’s blog title suggests, we (mainly Mom) have been doing a great deal of spring cleaning. My entire room was turned on its head and repacked. And when Mom wasn’t busy in my room she got stuck into the garden getting rid of old growth. It seems infectious, as even Daddy got involved by cutting back lots of big branches on trees. It seems one of Dad’s mission is to slowly get rid of the privet that is in front of the main bedroom window. Even with the branches already cut there’s lots more light in the study.
Monday Mom and I were not looking forward to a drive to Unitas to see my neurologist; but fortunately it was cancelled. Mom will reschedule for October. I had physio with Di and then we met up with Granny and Tammy and we went to McDonalds as I needed to play on their jungle gym. It’s always so cool having Tammy there with me as she climbs and slides on the jungle gym as well.
Granny joined us for music on Tuesday morning. It was really great having her there with us. I didn’t manage to fully avoid doctors for the week though, as I had a strange rash on my arm, so we popped in to see Anthony. Although he is a doctor I don’t mind seeing him, as he is really cool. Before I got examined on Monday I did a check-up on him first, and he was a very cooperative patient. I even managed to check his tonsils with a tongue depresser. He did do good “ahhhhh” when I inspected his throat, but he also giggled a lot!
In the evening Sharon, Marc and Matthew as well as Brenda arrived for a visit. It was so awesome seeing them again, and Matthew and I had a nice play together. Daddy arrived late in the afternoon – he ended up being stuck in a vendor meeting at the office that dragged on forever; fortunately he and Marc immediately tucked into beers and he seemed to feel better after that.
Claire arrived for a visit on Wednesday morning and her and Mom hung out together for most the day. Granny arrived mid-afternoon, as she was on baby-sitting duty for the evening. Daddy arrived home from work in time to have a quick visit with Claire as well. Later in the evening Mom and Dad got ready to go out for dinner with Marc and Sharon. I was too excited to sleep, having Granny look after me. Granny, on the other hand, kept nodding off and I had to wake her. I was really beginning to wonder who was baby-sitting who. When Mom and Dad arrived home I was still up, but immediately fell asleep afterwards.
Thursday morning was Daddy’s birthday. Mom and I showered him in gifts and I decorated a cake for him with dinosaurs. My like for birthday cake got the better of me though, and before I could bring Dad his birthday cake I took a bite out of it! In the bedroom Mom and I presented Dad with his cake, and he and I blew out the candles together. Mom put relighting candles on the cake, so Dad and I were kept busy for a while trying to blow out the candles. Daddy thought twice about eating it as I ended up spitting on the candles to get them out. He ate it nevertheless – birthday cake is birthday cake he said.
Even though it was Daddy’s birthday he had to go to work, but he left much later than usual. Mom, Gran and I went to Lifestyle Centre during the day where we got some plants for the garden. There I also test drove my Christmas present – a motorised ride on car. After the fun I had last Sunday in the motorised cars I really wanted my own. During the afternoon I discovered snackwich sandwiches which I fell in love with. Having had a pretty hectic day, I fell asleep early. We were all going to go out for Dad’s birthday, but instead he got us burgers from the local.
Friday Mom got into my cupboards for earnest, having done bits and pieces during the week. By Friday afternoon all my cupboards were unpacked and Mom was re-categorising and neatening up my toys and clothes.
We spent most of the weekend at home – I had started running a fever and really didn’t feel much like going out. The spring cleaning continued in the garden where Mom and Dad got rid of old growth.
Until next week!
