Monday started with a bang. After two days of really bad sleeping, including one untimely 1 am playdate with Mom, we both slept in. Poor Dad was forced to eat, have coffee and breakfast all alone. We eventually got up and did some household chores and ultimately headed off for physio with Di. I told everyone who would listen that I was off to see Di.

I arrived in the therapy rooms and said “Hi Di” and headed off with the intention of making myself reacquainted with the room. I was being a star till my vestibular nerve issue took over and I plummeted off some blocks, stopping my fall with my cheek on a chair. Mom calmed me as she didn’t want the crying to start an instability of the hemodynamics in my head. Some ice was procured and I announced I was going home again, but stayed to finish off the session!

On the way to visit Gran afterward, Mom allowed me an ice lolly to cool my very red cheek. I chose the biggest one I could find and finished it with great relish. It took two adults, three towels, a face cloth and a clothes change to clear up the fall out of that lolly. Another one for the books, mothers can be literally destroyed by an ice lolly.

We stopped at the shops on our way for me to play to get a clean t-shirt, but instead I got a Mister Maker art kit from Gran. I couldn’t wait and tried to unpack it in the store to get some work done.

Mom soon realized that I was not processing and playing was put-on hold and we were headed home. I badgered Mom to do an art project but she said I needed to sleep. I slept deeply and breathed deeply as I woke up and just went straight back to asking about the art. I got to do my art; it was great.

After art we washed the cars and I decided it was a great opportunity to wash the paving and doors and a few things I shouldn’t have, but ultimately the house is looking great – even if I say so myself.

I couldn’t get myself to sleep on Monday so instead of doing what most parents do and putting me in the car to trawl the streets in hope of sleep, they negotiated the pram. It did the job. I slept great. I don’t know who did the pushing of the pram, but I hope they slept well too.

Tuesday meant a new term of music. Whoohoo! We headed off and ended up having a very disruptive class. Fortunately not all of it was my doing. Teacher Liesel, like a pro, orientated the class to suit us even though it wasn’t in her lesson plan.

Gran was at home when we got back and Mom and her soon got busy sanding off a table. Gran and I also arranged my little house in part of the secret garden. It now has a pathway and will get some plants and little stones. It has a floor and I am very happy with the way it turned out. I am off to put some treasures into it.

Wednesday was a battle of wills for Mom and I and we fought long and hard about school work. I cried, I said things like “never, never, never”, or “not by the hair on may chinny chin chin”. Nothing worked. The woman was relentless. She eventually let me go after I counted to10. After that Mom insisted I snooze and then we went off for my big surprise!

Mister Maker was in town and I cracked an invite to meet him.

We arrived at Smudge Art and made ourselves comfortable. I got some cake and sandwiches in the shape of bunnies. There were also tonnes of Cbeebies items to colour in on the tables. I greeted all my usual art assistants and some I hadn’t met before. The air was electric and I was so excited.

Eventually I was standing on my chair shouting “Mister Maker, Mister Maker”, essentially starting a riot. Well considering all the riots in the world at the moment this was a nice one. I was thrilled with meeting Mister Maker and he showed us how to make alien eyes and I got a photo with him and a backpack full of Cbeebies goodies and a Cbeebies balloon. It was overwhelming and wonderful.

At home I forced Dad to have some art activities with me from my backpack and we had a good deal of fun, that Mom and I had to clean up. I passed out really early as a result of the excitement.

Thursday was a quiet day at home with Mom doing calls and both of us snoozing, watching DVDs and quiet sort of things. We were both shattered from the week.

Friday we went to Lauren for OT and I behaved a lot better than before and as a treat Mom arranged for us to watch Smurfs in 3D. Even Dad came with. I managed a quarter of the movie and Mom realized that something was up with me, as I could stop stretching. By the time we got home I had a fever of 39 degrees Celsius. I was packed with ice around my head and given the appropriate meds. When it didn’t cool me down after 6 hours Mom readied a hospital bag for all of us and the household was put on orange alert.

I woke up fine on Saturday morning, after a rough night, and Tanya and Morgan decided to come play despite being warned about the household bugs I was suffering from. Morgan and I had a wonderful time chatting, doing art, playing with cars, on the jungle gym and playing in the water down the slide. When the time came for Morgan to go home I threw my arms around him in a hug. Next week is T’s birthday so I will see him again. I am so excited.

Sunday was quiet and relaxed around the house and a great way to end the week. The great news is that I’ve been dummy free for a week and a half now, without falling off the wagon once!!

Lots of love,

Jarrod
