As there was no school on Monday, and Mom and Dad opted not to have me in day-care, I spent the morning with Granny while Mommy was at work. Time in Granny’s care is always super fun and I get my way a lot – apparently that’s a Granny’s job. I had speech at midday, so Mommy collected me and took me to see Vicky, but en route we had a play at Norscot Manner. Afterward I had a really long snooze, late into the afternoon. In the evening Mommy had to pop into Sandton City to oversee her exhibitors’ setting up. While Mommy was out, Daddy got me ready for bed, and as I was falling asleep the skies opened up and there was a huge storm. I was really worried about Mommy being out in that weather.

On Tuesday morning I was dressed and ready to go when I decided it was time to help Aaron work in the garden. By the time Mommy was ready to leave with my I was filthy dirty and needed another bath and change of clothes. It didn’t go down well. As if that wasn’t enough to make Mommy late for work a bird decided to fly into the house through an open window. Mickey was in heaven, chasing it around trying to catch it. Mommy not so much, but she did eventually catch it before any harm came to the bird and released it into the garden. Mickey, and Missy to a degree, were not impressed with Mommy that she helped their prey escape.

Mommy and I then popped into Brightwater Commons where Mommy needed to get Christmas décor for Sandton City. I ran away from Mommy, and upon releasing what I’d done, I sat down at a pillar and timed myself out. When Mommy found me, she went through a mix of emotions: relief, anger and amusement at the fact that I stopped in the midst of my escape and disciplined myself.

On the lawns at Brightwater Commons I found a tree stump, which I climbed up onto and announced to the world “I am The Lorax, I speak for the trees!” Everyone thought I was super. Eventually though I felt it was time to leave my post atop the tree stump and realised it was quite difficult to get off the stump, especially since I didn’t possess the same special powers as The Lorax. So I turned to Mom and said “Mommy Lorax, please help me down!”

Afterward we went to Mommy’s office where I helped her wrap fake presents to put under the tress in the centre. I would love to get that many presents for Christmas! In the afternoon Mommy took me to see the Diego, Dora and Boots show, which I really enjoyed.

Wednesday was a very different experience for me – I went to work with Daddy, to his ‘Randburg office’, as he has two offices. It was lots of fun meeting Daddy’s colleagues and playing at his office. At lunch time we all assembled in a boardroom where Daddy and his team had pizzas and all of us got gifts. I even got a Spiderman Motor Bike from Debbie, Daddy’s colleague. I was thrilled. When I was asked whose work I enjoyed more, Mom or Dad’s of course I said Dad’s, as at Mom’s work we don’t get team pizza and presents!

It was nice to be back home in the afternoon and to see Mommy. I high-skied a lot and then Mom and I started playing with my window crawlers – but instead to lobbing them at the window and watching them crawl down, I threw them at the ceiling, where they stuck fast! I giggled and giggled! Eventually Mom tried to get the crawlers down with a stick, and they did come down, but their sticky hands and feet stayed behind on the ceiling. Again I cracked up giggling hysterically!

On Thursday morning I accidentally bit Mommy in the shower while she was helping me brush my teeth. I really thought I was biting into the toothbrush. I felt really awful. Later on I went with Daddy to his office again. I moved empty water bottles about, watched videos and played. All of a sudden, a siren went off and Daddy sprang to action packing my bag and turning off his laptop. He told me it was a fire drill and that we had to evacuate the building. I asked a million questions: where is the fire? Why can’t I see it? Where are the firemen? And on and on and on. Daddy just scooped me up, answering my questions as best as possible as he carried me down what felt like a million flights of stairs. Once we were outside at the assembly point Daddy found a spot under a tree in the shade and I carried on watching the iPad!

After the fire drill I typed an email to Mommy and moved more bottles of water about. I also found a pair of handcuffs that I put on Daddy and then tried to hide the key away from him. After he managed to free himself I handcuffed my drinking bottle to a chair. Roelof popped by to say hello, and suddenly it was after midday and Mommy came to collect me, as Daddy had a meeting and felt it was best I wasn’t there during the discussion. I asked all sorts of questions again; Will the meeting be in the boardroom? Will there be pizzas? Will you make good decisions, just like Thomas?

When Mommy collected me I told her all about the fire drill and even emulated the siren! We then went shopping and Mommy found an Edward for Trackmaster which she bought me. As she didn’t have a screwdriver with her I decided it would be ‘Jarrod super powered’ until we got home. At home, while Mommy unpacked the groceries from the car, Zione built me a Trackmaster track. Mommy then put a battery in Edward and he whooshed around the track.

In the evening Mom, Dad and I went to The Orient in Melrose Arch to have Christmas dinner with some of his Twitter friends. It was such fun. Stacy, Simon and Connor were there, as well as Stephan and Jackie. We had an awesome time and chatted and chatted. I introduced myself to everyone, and Mommy and Daddy were beaming with pride how ‘adult’ I was. I sat at the table, chatted with everyone, answered their questions and was generally very well behaved. I ordered my own food and even ate it, and I ordered my Mom’s food for her too. She was so proud of me. Even though it was proving to be a long evening I busied myself with Edward (who came with) and then Connor and I played on Mom and Dad’s iPads.

Friday proved to be chaos. I was supposed to go with Mommy to work this time, as Daddy had to go to his ‘town office’ where he had a bunch of meetings, so it would’ve been hectic for me to go with. Mom and I got a really late start, and from only sleeping five hours I fell asleep in the car on the way to Mommy’s work. To top it off, Mommy also realised she forgot her laptop at home – so all signals were there that she shouldn’t go to work!

During the course of the morning I discovered we were going to Sun City for the weekend so my excitement reached fever pitch. Once Daddy was home and he’d made all the arrangements with the house sitter we were getting ready to leave. But minutes later the skies opened up in a cloud burst and thunderstorm so Daddy said it would be better if we wait, which we did. Just as well, as Roxy went berserk from the thunder so Daddy managed to keep her calm. Also, because Missy is so little we decided to smuggle her into our accommodation too. It was very late by the time we arrived at Sun City, but fortunately our 8 sleeper was perfectly positioned to the parking and other amenities. We chatted and snacked after unpacking and then went to sleep.

Saturday morning I was super excited as Ryan and his folks were joining us. To pass the time we headed down to the Entertainment Centre where we played games. At about midday Ryan, Paul and Claudi arrived. Ryan and I immediately got down to playing while Paul and Dad unpacked their car. For the afternoon we headed to the Vacation Club pool where we had a whale of a time playing in the shallow pool and swimming. In the evening we had a braai as we watched the sun set and enjoyed the warm weather.

On Sunday morning we all headed down to the Valley of the Waves. Because it was a long weekend it was packed full, but as residents we went through a special entrance and didn’t have to wait in the long queues. Inside we headed straight for the kids section of the Valley of the Waves. I showed Ryan the ropes, as he hadn’t been there before. Dad and I went down a couple of slides together which was really fun. Because my camera is waterproof I got Dad to video us going down. It was so much fun.

We discovered back at our flat that the ceiling fan proved brilliant for flicking my Angry Birds across the room – so Ryan and I spent hours throwing the Angry Birds into the fan and watching them getting flung about. Just after midday there was a huge downpour, which was a huge relief as the temperatures were hitting the mid 30’s (degrees Celsius)! We all had snoozes and then we all headed down to the Entertainment Centre where I showed Ryan the ropes again. Back at our accommodation Ryan and I played in Granny’s room where my train was set up. Our folks made dinner while we played to our hearts’ content.

Well, that’s it for now.
