What a week, after having a cold last week, I get the tummy virus that was going around.

40 degree Celsius temperatures where the order of the day, to the toilet every couple of minutes and no sleep as a result. For anyone.

Well Mom was having none of me being at school so sick so she dutifully sat by my side with her laptop and files and worked from home. Granny came round to bring her some work to do and as much as possible was done. It didn’t help that at work one of Mom’s colleagues’ little girls was hospitalised for the same thing. Fortunately I am older so able to understand better what is going on and so with a little diligence on Mom’s part I wasn’t allowed to get to the dehydration point. Obviously we were in contact with Dr. Nicoletta just in case of febrile seizures but I was quite cooperative and asked for ice on my head and cold baths and took my medicine without too much fuss.

On top of that, we lost Mickey for 24 hours and he is not telling where he was but Mom was angry with him for not coming home for dinner. Remind me not to break curfew when I get older.

For two days I lay in bed just watching TV. Now that’s an indicator according to Mom as I don’t sit still unless I am playing a game. Mom was asking me a question about the programme I was watching and in my mind I was wondering where she had been the last two years, but my response was, “Well if I’m not mistaken its….”. That had Mom in hysterics.

Granny stopped by to do some work with Mom and Mom took advantage of the fact and rushed out to get some household supplies, which were running very low. Come Wednesday, Daddy was struck with the great affliction and Mom galvanised into action. Mom looked after him till 2am and he was not as cooperative and wouldn’t take meds. Following an almighty thunderstorm I woke up and asked for a warm bath and a toilet break. Mom did not look great by Thursday morning. I allowed her a little lie down before she hit her laptop to catch up with emails etc.

While she was sitting in the dining room working I decided that I should move all our moving boxes around. We’ve been packing 2 boxes a night for a few nights to get ready to move out, and I finally got the opportunity to do some work – I was in such a chipper mood. Mom said my eyes almost had their sparkle back. I packed 3 wine boxes. I asked why we were taking so many boxes with us and Mom said Dad and her had worked hard collecting these bottles so we should take them with. I do think perhaps my folks are starting to take advantage of the child labour thing.

I eventually took a huge roll of bubble wrap and spread it around the house to Mom’s despair. Eventually I wrapped myself up in it. My Mom freaked out. She really needs her sleep. Oh now I get it – note to self: can’t breath in plastic. So the next best thing would be to wrap up all my trains for fear of them not coming with to wherever it is that we are going. The cats had an awesome time and as I type this somewhere in the house bubblewrap is still being popped by cats. After all that excitement and running around, I retired once more to my parents’ bedroom to watch TV and have a little lunch.

Exhausted I fell fast asleep.

I woke, had dinner and was back asleep shortly after that.

Friday I was eventually surfacing from the whole bug and my TrackMaster trains made its way out the bedroom and back into the study. Mom’s been secretly packing up my room and items all over the house. So I’ve had to start looking for my things. It’s a bit challenging and I don’t read hard words so not everything is clear.

By Saturday I was finally well enough to go out again – I hadn’t left the house for a full week. To our dismay, as we were about to leave, the car wouldn’t start. It had been days since it was last used, and someone (I won’t mention any names, but he likes to play at the steering wheel) left on the interior lights, which drained the battery. Needless I was handed down a bit of a lecture, but in a snap Daddy and I attached this big blue booster thing to the motor and the car started again. We spent the day looking at furniture and fabrics for our new house. I got a stunning hammock for my new bedroom, and I tested out some bunk-style beds with a play area ‘upstairs’ and sleeping quarters ‘downstairs’. I felt a little scared with the whole climbing up the bunk bed, but I think eventually I should get used to it.

On Sunday we meet Paul, Claudia and Ryan at Papachinos in Morningside where we had a stunning breakfast and play. It was really hot and by midday I was feeling like I was overheating, as I guess I’m still not 100% well. The afternoon was spent snoozing and playing trains.

‘Til next week!

Love
