Lynn’s Email to some select friends

Under the subject of ‘So let’s talk about scope creep’ Lynn sent out the following announcement . . .

Hi all,

Sometimes in life there is scope creep on a project that you actually have no say over, and no amount of change control will affect the eventual outcome.

So suddenly Norwin and I are faced with the following scenario…

We have a nine month deliverable, which will be met regardless of crashing, fast tracking, or any other project management tools and techniques we know or don’t know for that matter.

This is a seriously unplanned life project that appears will require a lifetime of implementation following the development phase of the lifecycle.  Counting from the end of June, 2008, we might have a reprieve in about 30 years time, when some willing soul takes over ownership and adds the finishing touches.

That being said, we are quite unprepared and quite ignorant of what lies ahead, and no I won’t buy any books because people have been having kids for centuries without the help of books.

So a few of the common answers to some of the questions we’ve been asked are as follows:

1.       NO! not planned at all – Yes we are still kinda in denial.

2.       The only right response would be we don’t mind as long as IT is healthy (Led wants a girl and I want a boy… any bets as to who gets their way on this one?)

3.       YES! Norwin was excited, his response was much better than mine… Mine went along the lines of “how do you know it’s mine?”

4.       YES! We are too OLD AND GREY and will be a pensioners when the little person is 21 and legal

5.       Yes! We will find out what it is

6.       No! We’ve not done any purchasing or emotional buying to date

7.       The illegal immigrant is 16 weeks or 4 months old

8.       No! I can no longer hide this fact, although if I played my cards right I could say I’ve just overindulged over Christmas.  The fact that Norwin has been sympathy drinking and eating would be his excuse.

9.       There will be no family names involved except for Lederer and Mc Adam.

10.   My name is Lynn Lederer and I have been sober for 4 months – (never a good idea over festive season with family).  I have however done a lot of designated decoy driving.
