It’s been a quiet week with not too much change from my normal routine. Unfortunately I wasn’t too eager to go to my cooking lessons this week, so I gave that a skip. There was also the nasty incident at school where one of my fellow learners bit me, which proved to be quite an ordeal. Needless to say the learner was heavily punished for his behaviour. I took it all in my stride and my teachers and parents alike were very proud of how well I handled the incident.

I spent a good deal of my afternoon’s helping Mommy pack to move to our new house. It was a lot of fun cutting bubble wrap (and popping it) and taping up boxes, stuffed full of our belongings.

Thursday I had my first neurofeedback therapy whereby probes were attached to my ears and one to the top of my skull. The therapy was quite enjoyable, as while it was being conducted I got to play video games. Pacman to be precise. Although it’s really really old school, and my old codger parents, embarrassing as they are, reminisced about their misspent youth playing Pacman for hours on end at the corner café with a mere 20c, I still had fun.

But enough about them – the therapy results so far seem awesome. Together with the feedback from last weeks’ QEEG and my interaction with the game, the gamma, alpha and beta rays being transmitted into my brain were being adjusted constantly for the correct blend needed to make a positive impact on me. Essentially Mom claimed I was a different person in the afternoon and the benefits were being experienced almost immediately. Daddy worked really late on Thursday so he didn’t benefit as much from my new persona.

It was mid-term break on Friday, but unfortunately for me Mommy had a migraine, so there wasn’t much play on the cards. Lo and behold, Daddy arrived home mid-morning, white as a sheet, also with a migraine. Granny came to the rescue and brought my old codgers migraine cocktails which wiped Dad out, and fixed him for the latter part of the day.

Saturday morning there was major excitement around the house as we packed the car to head down to Clarens in the Freestate to celebrate Roelof’s 40th. Surprise surprise, Roellie’s 40th coincided with the Clarens Beer Fest, so the party was huge! After settling in at the Maluti Mountain Lodge, we headed into town and straight into the beer fest. It was huge fun! There were even guys in lederhosen and girls dressed as beer maidens. We chilled at a table in the shade to keep out of the 32C heat.

While doing the rounds Daddy meet two of his work colleagues, Charles and Marketa (who’s from the Czech Republic). Since they spend so much time with my Daddy every day I immediately dished out big hugs!

Other fascinating people we met at the beer fest were the Zapp family who have been travelling around the world in a 1928 Graham-Paige vintage car. I even got to climb in the car and use its hooter. They have 4 children, each of whom was born in a different country during their traversing 45 countries to date.

In the afternoon Mom, Granny and I headed back to our lodge where I played up a storm on the jungle gyms and got to know all the local animals. Maluti Mountain Lodge is 100% pet friendly, and just to reinforce this, there are a menagerie of cats, dogs and rabbits that grace the lodge. Daddy somehow found his way back too, but much later.

I stayed with Granny for the evening while Mom and Dad went for dinner with all their friends and to celebrate Roelof’s 40th. I was fast asleep by the time they arrived home.

On Sunday we all had a huge breakfast and after checking out we spent the morning wandering around Clarens looking at all their arts and crafts. Sadly all things come to an end and pretty soon we were on the road home.

I spent the afternoon playing trains and as a treat to end a stunning weekend we all had dinner at our new Spur.

Lots of love,

Jarrod
