It’s been a quiet week. I literally stayed at home and played with my toys. On Monday evening I decided to set up a picnic for Mom and Dad in the family room. It was really fun – I served up quiche, chopped up some cucumber and a selection of strawberries and yoghurt flavours. Granny popped up for a while on Tuesday. It was really nice seeing her again. As it was getting warmer – summer is definitely on its way – Dad and I sat on the downstairs patio for dinner. We’d not used this patio since moving to our new house, so this too was exciting.

On Wednesday it was back to school for me after my mid-term break. It was great seeing all my friends again and Teacher Diana. Being a Wednesday the day ended with Be Sharp Beetles and I got the customary stamps on my wrists and tummy!

Daddy was out the house really early on Thursday morning as he was heading to Cape Town for the day. Mommy took me to school and I discovered in the afternoon when she and Granny fetched me from school that a ladder had fallen on her head in the storeroom. I felt very bad for Mommy. In the evening we collected Daddy from the station. He showed me photos he took of the mountains from the plane with snow on them.

Friday Daddy took me to school. He played my current favourite song to me – Summer Sadness. I asked how he made it play in his car, and he told me it was on his iPhone which spoke to the car. My response? “Really? Really? Really Dad? A phone that can talk?!” I’m wisening up to his quick answers. He then went on to explain that it work via Bluetooth. That was a much more palatable answer to me. I then proceeded to sing along with the lyrics, as Teacher Diana also plays us that song for quiet time, so I know the words quite well.

Granny came with Mom to take me to OT. As she had suffered concussion, she felt safer with someone else in the car with her. It was a good session. Afterwards I got to see Lucy and stayed for a little visit when we dropped Granny off.

Saturday was an extremely extremely lazy day. Mom, Dad and I slouched around in our pyjamas for practically the whole day. Mom and Dad treated me to a new Nintendo 3DS game – Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D – which Dad got via the online store. I loved it and immediately got into it, although it is one of the harder games I know. In the afternoon Dad and I decided to have a swim – our first of the season. It was freezing cold. But we did it.

In the evening Daddy took ill with an extreme migraine, which was caused by something he ate. Mom and I brought him ice and basically left him alone in the spare room which Mommy made completely dark for him. Mom and I got busy in my bedroom building the biggest wooden train track ever! It was awesome. I ended up going to bed really late – partly out of worry for Dad, and partly because I was addicted to Donkey Kong. A few times I popped next door to check on Dad.

Sunday morning Daddy was up and about, and better. He and I made breakfast – dinosaur eggs – which I chomped through at knots. Afterward we spent some time in the garden. Mommy trimmed and watered the beds while I helped. Daddy then put the rat-tat-tat sprinkle on. I thought this was the best, and played in the spray. As it swept in one direction I’d duck under its shower. On its rat-tat-tat return I’d run and scream like crazy. Pretty soon I sopping wet.

For lunch we went to Jaco and Nina’s place. Jaco was making a big chunk of lamb on the Weber which smelt divine. He really is a braai master! Daneel and Michelle were also there, as was Marais – so it was really merry. I played up a storm with Gene, Kate, Emma, Liya and Ferdinand. We played on the trampoline, I learned to play cricket, then we all sprayed each other with water cannons. We spent the rest of the day there visiting, eating, and playing, until it was practically dark. What a nice way to end the week.
